Data Center

Tor Cervara server farm Recently established, the new Data Center located in Rome (Tor Cervara) is designed to meet the needs of reliability, flexibility and performance of business customers. The Data Center is owned and managed by ITnet Srl.
All facilities and infrastructure have been made from the perspective of business continuity (electrical power, cooling, fire protection, perimeter security, IP network) and are subject to continuous monitoring and surveillance H24 using automated systems and garrison personnel.
The other value that inspired the design of the structure is energy efficiency for the dual purpose of obtaining a significant decrease in operating costs and reduce environmental impact. With this porpoise, have been used advanced technologies for cooling and air conditioning. As far as network technologies, architecture of the Data Center is based on the interconnection of virtual LAN differentiated for security level and types of users. The network is a fully redundant structure, ensuring operation in case of failure of each of the software and hardware elements that characterize it. The Internet connectivity is currently provided by two 10 Gbps link connecting the farm to the adjacent backbone POP Wind. The few meters that separate the two fiber infrastructure allow rapid growth of bandwidth capacity according to demand.
Access to the Server Areas is allowed only to authorized personnel, while network-level servers are protected by sophisticated systems of switches and security based on Cisco and Juniper technology to prevent or detect intrusion attempts.

The presence of a property backbone, which carries a significant percentage of the national traffic, and the close collaboration with the Wind (NOC) structure who run it, also allows for rapid reaction and a significant reduction of the consequences in case of problems on the network.
The server farm of Rome – Tor Cervara was built to meet the needs of modern technology for next generation data centers. Service continuity is assured by design with compliance TIER3 (Uptime Institute) with the redundancy of all systems.
The NOC Wind guarantees 24 hours per day monitoring of the national Internet backbone.
The following control systems complete the picture of the infrastructure available:

  • Access control system with badge and multi-level numerical code.
  • Intrusion detection system with agents and supervisory 24hx7x365 garrison.
  • CCTV cameras and digital storage of the shooting.
  • detection systems, smoke detectors, fire fighting and anti-flooding.
